About Antoinette
As a certified holistic nutritionist based in Sonoma County, California, I empower individuals to enhance their well-being through personalized guidance on nutrition and mindfulness. With a deep understanding of the connection between food and overall health, I offer expert insights and practical strategies to help clients achieve their wellness goals. By blending science-based knowledge with a holistic approach, I aim to support individuals in cultivating a balanced and nourished life.
I have studied nutrition and mindfulness my entire adult life, graduating from both Bauman College and The Academy of Intuition Medicine with a Masters Certification and Degree in Holistic Nutrition and Mindful Medicine. Earlier in my career, I was a child educator specializing in nutrition and mindfulness, over-seeing 14 campuses in the Bay Area. For years, I managed a well-known Marin Wellness Center before eventually branching out to establish my own practice in Sonoma County. This transition allowed me to cater to clients not only locally but also nationally and internationally.
I reside in Sebastopol, California with my spouse Mike, our daughter Josefina, and dog Olive. Being in Sebastopol gives us easy access to local, organically grown food, fitting well with my natural approach to health. Our family loves the wide outdoor areas and organic farms, letting us include nature walks in our daily lives. This strong link to nature spurs my holistic nutrition work and commitment to encouraging wellness for my clients.
Understanding the Holistic approach
Holistic nutrition is a comprehensive approach to health and wellness that takes into account the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. It emphasizes the importance of consuming nutrient-dense whole foods to optimize health and prevent disease. By focusing on the quality of food, individual nutritional needs, and lifestyle factors, holistic nutrition aims to achieve balance and vitality. This approach views food as medicine and believes that proper nutrition is the foundation for overall well-being. Incorporating holistic nutrition principles into your life can lead to improved energy, better digestion, stronger immunity, and a greater sense of well-being.
Holistic nutritionists and dietitians both specialize in food and nutrition, but their approaches differ significantly. While dietitians primarily focus on government dietary guidelines, such as the traditional food pyramid, to address specific health concerns, holistic nutritionists take a more comprehensive approach by considering the individual as a whole. Holistic nutritionists integrate the connection between mind, body, and spirit into their practice, addressing not only the nutritional aspect but also the emotional and spiritual factors that may influence one's health. By emphasizing whole foods, lifestyle changes, and mindfulness practices, holistic nutritionists aim to promote overall well-being and balance in their clients, rather than solely focusing on calorie counts or macronutrient ratios.
